Discovery of the work

I was reading an account from a mystic, where the Virgin Mary encouraged a person to read it. I thought, if it is authentic, it must be important to read. I don't remember the specific source anymore. That was around 1990.

Impact on faith

I have read the "Poem" three times over the years. This has been the most influential book of my life, helping me deepen my faith and love of Jesus Christ. Just as a lot of people like watching the TV show "Chosen" to help bring the story of Jesus alive, so too has this book for me. It has motivated me to try to live as a modern-day disciple of Jesus, participating in and leading faith-based groups at my church and sharing the "good news" with those I know. Jesus is now my "center." I thank Him for bringing greater meaning to my life.

Graces received

See above.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

The message of Jesus is a hard one that challenges our often sinful lives. It is easier to ignore the message, but having a soft heart and accepting that we could do better brings innumerable grace and joy. The "Poem" will challenge you, but open your heart and let it bring you closer to Him.

Discovery of the work

I discovered her because Father Fortea, former exorcist of the diocese of Madrid, recommended reading her work. That name stayed engraved in my mind as something important, and I immediately set out to find her work. I remember perfectly the light that entered my room and as if time stopped when I started reading the work, I literally threw the text because I felt that God himself was speaking to my heart and I was truly impressed.

Impact on faith

Since I started reading the work, my love for God has increased considerably because I feel that by reading it, it's like getting to know Him personally and discovering His humanity, His sufferings, His longing, and of course, His Love for us. Reading this work is experiencing the life of Christ as if it were someone who was right there and observing valuable details and even understanding things that I would not otherwise comprehend.

Graces received

Reading the Work has made me more aware of God, presenting Him as something more real, not so abstract and distant, and it has also strengthened my faith, my prayer, and my Sacramental life. I have literally fallen in love with Jesus, when before, being a lukewarm Catholic, I was somewhat afraid of Jesus, as He seemed severe and harsh to me. Now I pray to Him anywhere and at any time, in so many ways that talking to Him is like calling a friend on the phone who immediately responds with the trust of someone who knows they are very loved. I have come to know the Humanity of God, and it is so beautiful to read all this that I fell in love. Reading Maria Valtorta is like living alongside Jesus for much of His life. There are not enough words to express the gratitude of my soul and my heart. You have to read it and live it.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

I would tell you to let yourself go, to do as I did and as many do, to delve in as if you were reading a literary work, and if your heart suddenly leaps and your spirit recognizes in them the Voice of God, let yourself go, fall in love with God, and enjoy the journey.

Additional testimony

One fine day, while reading the work, I internally pleaded to Jesus: MY GOD, I WANT TO SHOUT THIS TO THE WORLD, THE WORLD MUST KNOW THIS WORK! And shortly after, I don't even know how, the idea of reading these writings on a YouTube Channel came up. Without hope that anyone other than a couple of distracted people would read it, I started recording with great embarrassment and fear, but I did it thinking that if one or two people listened to it and it touched their hearts like it did mine, it would be worth it. As of today (Oct 2026), my Channel has 50,000 (50k) subscribers and receives thousands of daily views, this channel is MARIA VALTORTA ALMA VICTIMA. It is a blessing and an honor for me to do this work of reading the work. I thank God for this task.

Discovery of the work

I discovered it over a decade ago through my best friend, who introduced it to me.

Impact on faith

By Jesus having taken recourse to visions of His Gospel and explaining it, it was brought to life, made clearer, and the lives and personalities of Jesus, His Mother, Joseph, the apostles, His most faithful disciples, and others were made much more known. As I re-read the Work, these factors continually contribute to the nourishment and increase of my faith and love for the Gospel and Jesus.

Graces received

God, through this Work, as well as His other Authored Works through Maria Valtorta, has helped me to understand a wealth of topics, e.g., the Holy Trinity, angels, Grace, love, prayer, sacrifice, the holy Sacraments, and so on. There's not enough space to share in all the ways these Works have touched my life, but to give a few examples, I've shared this helpful knowledge with as many people as I can, my prayer life has deepened, I've seen an increase in transformation from a human to a more divine way of thinking and acting, I am more conscious of preparing my soul to receive the Eucharist, and my love for the Holy Trinity and the Blessed Mother has grown and continues to grow.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

I highly recommend reading A Summa and Encyclopedia to Maria Valtorta’s Extraordinary Work (https://www.valtorta.com.au/TheDefence), especially the chapters providing proof in support of her writings having a supernatural origin.

Additional testimony

In addition to The Poem of the Man-God (or The Gospel as Revealed to Me), Maria Valtorta's other God-Authored Works, such as The Notebooks: 1943, The Notebooks: 1944, The Notebooks 1945-1950, The Book for Azariah, and Lessons on the Epistle of St. Paul to the Romans, as well as her autobiography, have been life-changing for the better as well.

Discovery of the work

Reading several chapters and delving for many years into DIOUOMO.

Impact on faith

I discovered certain personalities that in the Bible are only mentioned in passing, not sufficiently. For example, more aspects of the Madonna, her profound relationship with her son, and her participation in the sufferings of Jesus (co-redemptrix). Then I discovered the personality of Lazarus, Mary Magdalene, the Apostles, people healed by the Lord such as, for example, lepers, etc. I cannot mention everything here that has TOUCHED me—because it is A LOT. This way, one understands the Bible better and strongly nourishes one's spirituality.

Graces received

My meditation on the Bible nourishes me well and I become more familiar with certain people in the Bible, especially with the MADONNA.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

Read regularly, half a chapter, a whole chapter. "Appetite comes with eating," as they say.

Discovery of the work

I became acquainted with the works of Maria Valtorta in the 1970s of the last century. A friend of my wife spoke to us enthusiastically about them, and I read almost in one breath all ten volumes then called "The Poem of the Man-God." The work, as Dr. Emilio Pisani asserted, has always spread much more by word of mouth than through traditional methods of propaganda.

Impact on faith

Dedicating at least 4 hours a day for years to the translation of the work into Swahili, I feel that it is for me a continuous teaching and deepening of my Faith.

Graces received

A progressive increase in knowledge of Jesus and the Madonna and their Love for our poor humanity, especially witnessed by their suffering for our salvation.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

Try to read without prejudice to believe.

Additional testimony

I hope that the Church can soon recognize the validity of the Work and among the first actions to be implemented, include the passages concerning the Madonna in the feasts dedicated to her, where the liturgy now does not coincide with such feasts (Nativity of the Blessed Virgin, Assumption of Mary, Presentation of Mary at the Temple, Immaculate Conception).

Discovery of the work

For a long time, I hesitated to open these books, guided by the caution that had been instilled in us. But, trusting in the spiritual authority of the person who had advised me to read them, I began to read. And first with the heart, then with the mind, I understood what an invaluable treasure had been given to us. Each episode was imbued with such genuine and divine love and wisdom that my heart reacted immediately. To the point of tears. And my theological training only reinforced this thought: creating such a text would have been beyond the capabilities even of a co

Impact on faith

This is the story of the Gospel coming to life. Love, not just knowledge. They helped me not only to recognize, but to truly love Christ, the Mother of God, and the apostles. They stopped being icons, becoming living, familiar, and close people, with recognizable characters and spiritual movements. We learn to know them deeply. And the more you know someone, the more you love them.

Graces received

This is a dive into spiritual reality. One is literally transported back to events from two thousand years ago, becoming humble participants in them. This has transformed my spiritual life in the Church: the services, especially the festive ones, begin to be experienced with incredible fullness, awareness, and vibrant joy or compassion. And then, reading the canonical Gospels, each episode is perceived as a lived and felt story. In this revelation, I find answers to all my spiritual questions. It is a healing balm for the soul. I know extraordinary cases where this Book has literally saved people in the most severe spiritual crisis. One episode is particularly touching: a man's phone fell from his hands, and picking it up, he saw an open channel with this revelation, of which he had never heard. Not long before, he had prayed to God for help. This was the answer to his desperate prayer. Page after page, he returned to life, finding peace and the desire to serve God and his neighbor.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

Simply start reading it with prayer, without prejudice and with an open heart. And, most importantly, try to apply its words to your life. Then, judge by the fruits. Does peace come into your heart? Is there a sincere desire to change? Do you find the strength to do it? The blessed internal and external changes will be the most convincing proof of its true Spirit for you personally.

Additional testimony

I sincerely thank everyone who shares their feedback here and the creators of this wonderful initiative. It brings me great joy and spiritual benefit to learn how this Book of God influences the hearts of people all over the world. These testimonies are living proof that in Christ "there is neither Greek nor Jew." It unites us in our singular love for Christ, reminding us that we are all true brothers and sisters in the Lord. And the fact that this text does not divide, but rather unites believers, overcoming prejudices and human barriers, is further eloquent testimony of its truly divine and peacemaking Spirit. It is an extraordinary feeling to be part of a great family united in Christ, gathered through this great spiritual treasure!

Discovery of the work

1980s Leaving a sanctuary in Genoa, location Apparizione Eremo dell'Immacolata, I read in a small magazine "la Voce dell'Eremo," edited by Father Raschi, and I had the opportunity to read excerpts from "The Poem of the Man-God" and from there I wanted to know more, eventually reading the entire work. And not only that, I also had the 1973 edition, with the beautiful plates by Lorenzo Ferri. Then I met a Carmelite nun: Sister Raffaella, who knew Valtorta in her youth and indeed became a nun from that encounter at a young age!

Impact on faith

At the beginning, it was just curiosity that led me to learn about the historical events of the Gospel. A curiosity also captivated by the beautiful notes of the first reprints. Notes that are not in an apologetic tone but in a historical tone. Events that have evolved both as occurrences and as doctrinal truths. I discovered the motto of Jesus: "All for one, one for all in the name of Jesus." From the Gospel comes the phrase: "Love, then you will observe." And it is in this unity of Love that Judas Iscariot also performs miracles along with the "sons of Thunder" and with the killer Simon, the zealot... and then the dramatic division of Jesus' family! The Gospel speaks to us of Mary of Cleophas as a relative of Mary, but not of the brother-in-law. The Poem goes on to describe that the other two sons remained with their father in Nazareth. Reading the Poem gives us that water described in the Gospel of John: "[10] Jesus answered her, 'If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.'" because while you read it, you desire

Graces received

The work never opposes the Evangelical reality, but gives it light and understanding. This knowledge led me to walk elevated paths of spirituality. Shortly after that first reading, I began to study Theology at a university level. I obtained a diploma in Religious Sciences, ready to teach. These studies led me to undertake a more in-depth reading of the poem, and by reading it for the third time, I learned the reasons for this revelation. Shortly thereafter, I consecrated myself at a Benedictine monastery with the name of Raphael, becoming a lay monk with a public oblation. Later, when I retired, I had the opportunity to attend the Carmelite order and conducted online studies at the Teresianum in Rome, obtaining a diploma in Carmelite spirituality. I considered this the result of that initial reading of the work, which led me to know and desire to know in order to love. Already the work shed light on the historical approach to Jesus 20 years before the Second Vatican Council.

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

Yes, to this question I respond with the words of a Bishop: "Teach me to seek you and show yourself when I search for you: I cannot seek you if you do not teach me, nor find you if you do not show yourself. May I seek you by desiring you and desire you by seeking you, may I find you by loving you and love you by finding you." (from the "Proslogion" by Saint Anselm, Bishop.) Where? There, by immersing yourself in the reading of the Poem of the Man-God.

Additional testimony

An unequivocal fact is that the Poem places Jesus at the center of the story! The Poem does not have a mystical language, it is not just for nuns or friars, nor is it "religious." It has an original language: and this is because it will take another 20 years, from the writing of the Poem, to speak of history, in the context of the Second Vatican Council. It's as if God is telling us: "I lived among men as a true man and not as a legendary figure." The text is outside the philosophical context and enters "forcefully" into the biblical language, highlighting all the ancient festivals. The wisdom of God once had a voice, now it has a face, a historical face, and in this poem, we can read, in that face, all his love story. And the story is not biased. The announcement of the risen one to Magdalene means that the announcement passes through women. In these readings, there is the entire feminine history of a "faithful" and "sincere" love that conquered and conquering women have been able to live together and have given strength and love to men for their evangelizing mission. Love wins.

Discovery of the work

In 2012, I was on a pilgrimage in Italy and a woman informed me about a priest in Brazil who was distributing the books of Maria Valtorta in Portuguese. I am a descendant of Italians from Veneto, my great-grandfather Amadio Pietrobon was from Ponzano Veneto in the province of Treviso. I was studying Italian and I bought your books in Italian, and then I bought two in Portuguese, for my sister and a Brazilian priest who is very devoted to the Most Sacred Heart.

Impact on faith

Indescribable, after the Bible, I consider the revelations of Jesus Christ to Maria Valtorta the most worthy of adoration that I have read in my Christian life.

Graces received

I am more embittered by my sins in life, and I remember the film "Saving Private Ryan" from World War II, where the main American actor, Tom Hanks, said before dying: "Earn this, earn it." I have translated these words in relation to myself, after reading Maria Valtorta: "Earn the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross to save your soul."

What would you say to someone hesitating to discover this work?

That you are missing the greatest opportunity to grow spiritually and discover all the immense love of the Holy Trinity and of the Madonna and Saint Joseph, for all of us.
